TOPS has been built from the user (Simone) up and not from the developer down and the software has proven its worth beyond a shadow of a doubt over many years.

Every process was needed
Every process included has been created because it was necessary to make a small mail order business more efficient. In the early days Peter often chided Simone about the number of different applications open on her PC simultaneously. Simone would reply ‘well I need to send a letter, email, phone, check an account, bank statement, DHL Airwaybill, download orders, update the website’ and so on. All of that is now drawn together into a single user-friendly order processing software application.

Our problem - everyone's problem?
Right from the start it was envisaged that the order processing software created for Dundonnell Smoked Salmon might be of value to other small mail order ‘gifting’ businesses. 2004 marked the beginning of a complete redesign and rebuild, under new developers using the latest software technology, VB.net.

Constantly evolving
Of course the current developers know that given Simone’s constant appetite for improvements, the new application will continue to evolve to meet new business needs identified by its users – a challenge they will relish as always - to continue to provide order processing software which will enable you to hold everything together.

Existing Solutions
Before the rewrite Peter and Simone extensively researched what was already in the market place and discovered that small mail order businesses offering a gift service were not exactly catered for. TOPS Order Processing Software is therefore fairly unique in being built with the personal aspects of running a gifting business in mind.
